About Joel Anderson

Joel Anderson founded ZeroMark with a clear objective: make the dismounted soldier as dominant on the ground as an F-22 is in the sky. After experiencing how quickly ground engagements collapse into peer-to-peer fights regardless of an adversary’s sophistication, he became convinced that asymmetric advantage at the individual level is both possible and necessary. ZeroMark was built to engineer that edge—through precision fire control, intelligent systems, and tightly integrated hardware and software designed for real-world use. Joel’s background spans weapons systems and EOD operations, giving him practical insight into how technology must perform under pressure. Prior to ZeroMark, he served as both CIO and CISO, leading software engineering, data science, go-to-market operations, IT, facilities, compliance, and enterprise security inside complex organizations. He pursued executive MBA studies at Columbia Business School, pairing operational depth with disciplined company building to lead ZeroMark’s long-term strategy.

Previously, he served as a Naval Aviator and led operational test programs for the F/A-18 community, translating fleet needs into measurable performance outcomes. After military service, he joined Anduril, supporting the development and fielding of next-generation defense technology. Since then, he has worked across the defense sector with early-stage companies to shape go-to-market strategy, build teaming relationships, and drive customer adoption. He brings a test-and-operations-informed approach to partnerships, aligning product roadmaps with validated user requirements and clear pathways to deployment. He holds a B.S. in Political Science from the U.S. Naval Academy and an M.S. in Leadership from the University of Southern California.

As Vice President of Engineering, Jacob Ribnik spearheads software development and data science for ZeroMark’s products and internal systems. Prior to ZeroMark, Jacob spent ten years developing internal tools and ecosystems at MongoDB. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Physics from UCLA and a PhD from UCSB, where he helped build the Compact Muon Solenoid and performed some of the first physics analyses at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. Throughout his career, he has managed both domestic and offshore manufacturing operations, including extensive collaboration with facilities in China and Taiwan. His expertise includes mechanism design, robotics, injection-molded plastics, precision components, and ANSI-, ISO-, and ITAR-compliant engineering documentation. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.

He holds a PhD and MS in Computer Engineering from The Ohio State University and a BS in Computer Engineering from the University of South Florida. He is a co-inventor on three patents and lead author on 17 peer-reviewed publications.
